Owned and operated as a family business for over 50 years, Liskeard Lumber produces over 30 million board feet of softwood lumber annually at its sawmill in Elk Lake. Since its early involvement in horse logging operations, Liskeard Lumber has continued to harvest the majority of its requirements from the Timiskaming area. It has evolved from a small license holder to now being a proud shareholder in the Timiskaming Forest Alliance.
Over the past five years, Liskeard Lumber has continued to invest in Timiskaming through continual upgrading and improvement at the Elk Lake Planing Mill. This investment was made with the knowledge that the Timiskaming Forest would continue to be managed in a sustainable, professional manner.
Liskeard Lumber places a high value on local involvement. It ensures this involvement in both the management of the forest, through Local Citizens Committees, and through the employment of local harvest contractors for its forest operations.
Liskeard Lumber is looking forward to their continued involvement with the Timiskaming Forest Alliance, and towards the pursuit of excellence in the forestry sector in the Timiskaming Region.
