Timiskaming Forest Alliance Inc. (TFAI) is a Shareholder-owned forest management cooperative that believes the long-term prosperity and sustainability of our company and the communities in which we reside is dependent upon the continued health of the forest in our care and the health and safety of the people who work in it. By operating in a safe, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective manner, we can improve the competitive advantage of our Shareholders and the prosperity of our communities.
1. TFAI is committed to sustaining the forest environment and protecting the health and safety of all persons working on our Sustainable Forest Licence and to ensuring that all persons and companies operating on our licence comply with environmental, forestry, and occupational health and safety laws and regulations and other standards to which we subscribe.
2. TFAI is committed to working with the Shareholders and TFAI contractors to continuously improve environmental, health and safety performance and to develop leading-edge forest management practices and standards.
3. TFAI, its Shareholders and TFAI contractors are committed to responsible corporate citizenship and operating with integrity in the communities in which we do business. We will facilitate an open and honest dialogue with the general public in regards to our ongoing forest management program.
4. Shareholders and TFAI contractors are responsible for the health and safety of all persons working under their supervision or under contract to them on the TFAI licence, for protecting the forest environment, and for complying with environmental, health and safety legislation on their operations on the TFAI sustainable forest licence area.
5. Sustaining the forest environment, preventing pollution and working safely are conditions for operating on the TFAI Sustainable Forest Licence. TFAI, its Shareholders and TFAI contractors must implement and maintain an environmental, health and safety policy and management system, and must report on their performance and on their compliance with environmental, health and safety legislation to TFAI.
6. TFAI conducts periodic inspections of all operations on its licence and reports summaries of the findings to Shareholders, TFAI contractors and to the Board of Directors
7. Shareholders and
TFAI contractors must promptly report all significant incidents and accidents
that occur on the TFAI sustainable forest licence area to the TFAI, including
all significant spills, fires and environmental incidents, and all
work-related injuries and illnesses, and that result in critical injury,
medical aid, lost time, or fatality.
